History of Druk Tshongrig Gatoen (DTG)

Druk Tshongrig Gatoen (DTG) Was Launched In 2018 As Bhutan’s Premier Platform To Celebrate And Promote Socially Responsible Businesses. The Event Was Initially Organized In Collaboration With The Ministry Of Labour And Human Resources (MoLHR), Now Restructured As The Ministry Of Industry, Commerce, And Employment (MoICE), Along With Support From The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) And Other Key Stakeholders. The Founding Objective Was To Inspire Bhutanese Youth To Pursue Entrepreneurship, Promoting Innovation That Aligns With The Country’s Gross National Happiness (GNH) Principles.

In its first year, DTG aimed to create an ecosystem for young and aspiring entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, receive mentorship, and learn from both local and international experts. The event focused on fostering business models that prioritize social and environmental responsibility, reflecting Bhutan’s commitment to sustainable development.

2019: Building on its initial success, DTG expanded its network, attracting more entrepreneurs, students, policymakers, and development partners. Activities included workshops, mentorship sessions, and pitch competitions, aimed at equipping participants with practical skills and knowledge to scale their business ideas.
2020: Despite the global pandemic, DTG adapted by integrating virtual sessions, highlighting topics such as digital transformation and resilience. The event focused on how businesses could remain agile and sustainable in a rapidly changing environment.

DTG continued to emphasize youth empowerment and social responsibility. Each edition of the event provided a platform for young entrepreneurs to develop business models that align with the GNH framework, addressing critical issues like environmental sustainability and community well-being.
